Accredited certification is a 3rd party verification allowing the use of the logo of the applicable accredited governing body to be placed upon your certificate and outlines that the registrar is being reviewed and audited by the governing body.  These include UKAS, SCC, ANAB etc.  There is a very large quantity of these accredited registrars. The registrars are required to meet the requirements of the ISO 17021 standards and have an internal quality management program meeting the requirements stated within the ISO 17021 standard. Accreditation bodies perform audits on this system on a regular basis to maintain the credibility of the Registrar.  Each Registrar sets its own guidelines and expectations on clients on their interpretation of the ISO 17021 standard meaning that there are differences between registrars so awareness and investigation in these areas is recommended.  For some organizations, accredited certification is a legal or contractual requirement to maintain business so it is important to understand your customers and their requirements.
